How You Can Help: VOLUNTEER ~ FUNDRAISE ~ DONATE ~ GIVE a PRODUCT or SERVICE
Bridging People and Places has four types of resources: volunteers with big hearts; funds raised in a variety of ways; products and services donated by individuals and corporations; and office equipment and supplies to support the volunteers, projects, and fundraising we do. We have no paid staff.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life, and are all ages -- from elementary school children to senior citizens. Grandmothers and Girl Scouts, teachers and athletes, youngsters and business owners give their time and effort to these projects of loving kindness. Our circle of volunteers continues to grow, and with it our ability to have a positive effect on the lives of others.
Funds for the Bridging People and Places projects come from three primary sources: sale of Bear Hugs, donations from individuals and corporations; and a wide variety of fund raising activities. Essentially all of these funds go completely to the projects we do. Our administrative costs are less than 3 percent of the funds we raise, compared with an average of 8 percent for other not-for-profit organizations (source: United Way).
One way we keep our costs so low is that we make every effort to supplement needed supplies and services by soliciting, from individuals and corporations, donations of related products and services, all of which also go directly to our projects without having to be paid for from raised funds.
